Help Celebrate the Launch of News Voices: North Carolina

What kind of news and civic information do the people of North Carolina need? How can the media better serve your community?

Join Free Press to celebrate the launch of News Voices: North Carolina, a journalism and community-engagement project.

Over the next two years, we'll work across the state to connect newsrooms big and small with the civic life of the communities they serve. We'll also be working to strengthen networking between and among journalists, news outlets, civic-oriented nonprofits and active residents.

Share your ideas. Talk to journalists. Meet activists. Tell us how we can make North Carolina’s media better.

To kick off this project, we're hosting an evening networking reception at the West Charlotte location of the coworking space Hygge (pronounced HOO-gah).

What: News Voices: North Carolina Launch Party
When: Wed., April 19, from 6–9 p.m. (Light refreshments will be served. Free parking is available on site.)
Where: Hygge West, 2128 Remount Road, Charlotte

This event is free and open to the public.

Our News Voices staff — Durham-based program director Fiona Morgan and Charlotte-based organizer Alicia Bell — will be on hand to introduce you to the News Voices project. This will also be an opportunity for you to network with journalists, activists and other people in Charlotte who care about civic engagement.

RSVP today to join Free Press in Charlotte on April 19.
