Our Voices, Our Future: What New Jersey Residents Want in Local Media

Ready to make your voice heard, New Brunswick?

When it comes to local media coverage, the situation in New Jersey is dire. Most communities have no local coverage, no one reporting their stories or holding elected officials accountable. Instead, there's just a constant loop of news from New York City and Philadelphia.

Let's change that. With New Jersey set to receive $332 million from the sale of public-media licenses, we want you to tell us how that money could be used to fund better coverage of your community.

Join us on May 30 to discuss what kind of news and information you and your neighbors need.

Share your ideas. Ask questions. Stand up for your community.

What: Our Voices, Our Future: What New Jersey Residents Want in Local Media
    When: Tues., May 30, 7–9 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.)
Where: Rutgers University, School of Information and Communication, Room 323

RSVP today and join Free Press Action Fund on May 30.

News Voices: New Jersey aims to build a network of people invested in local journalism.

We believe the future of quality local journalism lies in collaborations between newsrooms and communities. Deep connections between media outlets and readers benefit both groups: Newsrooms can expand their audiences, deepen local engagement and find new sources. Communities can call on reporters to cover the issues they care about most and help create the kinds of local media they need.
