To the Senate:

The HEROES Act, the COVID-19 relief package the House recently passed, would go further than any other legislation ever has to get and keep people connected to the phone and internet services they need to work from home, apply for unemployment, receive vital health information, access telehealth appointments, access education for their children and stay in contact with loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic.

Please vote to pass the HEROES Act — and ensure that vital provisions like the emergency broadband benefit, the continued-connectivity guarantee and the COVID-19 Compassion and Martha Wright Prison Phone Justice Act remain in the bill.

We Need the HEROES Act Now: Help People Stay Connected During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The HEROES Act — the next COVID-19 stimulus package1 — goes further than nearly any other legislation ever has to get and keep people connected to lifesaving information and close the digital divide.

Right now, during this global crisis, the ability to afford phone and internet services is what allows people to work from home, apply for unemployment, receive vital health information, access telehealth appointments, access education for their children and stay in contact with loved ones.

Even before the coronavirus pandemic hit, internet prices were so high that 22% of U.S. households didn’t have home internet. The cost of phone calls in or out of prisons, jails and detention centers has long been so exorbitant that many families have had to choose between paying their bills or staying connected with loved ones.

And since the pandemic began, these problems have deepened as millions of people have lost their jobs and in-person visits to prisons and jails have been banned.

Tell your senators today: Vote for the HEROES Act and help give everyone in our country access to lifesaving information during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
