Tell Congress: Fix the Broken Media System
There’s a new Congress in town, and it’s got a lot of work to do. Let’s help it focus on fixing the media system that shapes our society.
The first two years of the Trump administration brought a series of devastating attacks on our rights to connect and communicate freely and safely — especially targeting people of color, immigrants, refugees, women and the LGBTQIA community.
In the face of these hateful policies and actions, people like you stepped up in historic numbers to fight back against Trump and his cronies. But this new Congress means we can start playing offense.
We’re calling on members of the House and Senate to:
- Restore the Net Neutrality protections the FCC destroyed, foster competition among broadband providers, and promote affordable internet access.
- Break up media conglomerates to promote local journalism and serve diverse communities.
- Strengthen privacy and civic discourse on the internet’s biggest platforms.
- Make communities safer from surveillance by federal agencies and local police.
Rebuilding what the Trump administration has destroyed will take time — which means we need to get started right now. Our democracy depends on it.
Tell Congress to take action to restore Net Neutrality, stop rampant media consolidation, invest in local journalism, hold online platforms accountable and rein in unwarranted surveillance of our communities — particularly communities of color.
