News Voices: North Carolina & The Charlotte Observer Present: What's the Story, Charlotte?

    What’s the Story, Charlotte?

The future of quality journalism lies in collaborations between newsrooms and communities.

That’s why Free Press and the Charlotte Observer are bringing community members and reporters together to build relationships and talk about the state of local news and the kinds of coverage we envision for the future.

This is one in a series of conversations that will happen around the city in the coming months. This one will focus on how local news impacts and covers housing, gentrification and ongoing displacement in Charlotte.

    Here are the details:
    What: What’s the Story, Charlotte?
    When: Thurs., Feb. 21, at 6 p.m.
Where: LaCa Projects, 1429 Bryant St., Charlotte

This gathering is part of Free Press’ work building trust between local media outlets and the communities they serve through our News Voices: North Carolina project.

Our goal is to foster strong relationships between the Observer and the people of Charlotte so that coverage reflects the lives and realities of all.

Your voice is key. Come out and meet your neighbors, ask questions and share stories.
