Tell House Speaker Paul Ryan: Turn on the Cameras Now
UPDATE: House Democrats have ended the sit-in, but that doesn't change the fact that House Speaker Paul Ryan shut down the cameras to keep the public from watching. You can still send a message to his office by signing this petition.
House Democrats are staging a historic sit-in on the House floor right now to force a vote on gun control, but you can’t watch it.
Why? Because House Speaker Paul Ryan turned the cameras off as soon as it started, leaving C-SPAN — which normally broadcasts the daily happenings in Congress — out in the cold.
The public needs to know what’s happening in government. Journalists must be able to keep an eye on Congress — whether elected officials are speaking, voting or protesting. Speaker Ryan’s refusal to let C-SPAN broadcast the sit-in is obstructing democracy.
We need to stay informed but Ryan is leaving us in the dark.
Demand that Paul Ryan turn on the cameras and let the public see what's happening.
