We’ve done it y’all! After years of online conversations and small-group meet-ups, Free Press has finally planted real, physical roots in North Carolina. We’ve done this by launching News Voices: North Carolina, a project aimed at building strong connections between residents and reporters to ensure that local journalism serves community needs. News Voices launched over the past week with kick-off events in Charlotte and Durham. We know some of you couldn’t make it and those who did left asking, “What’s next?”
So here we are: trying to grow power and community across our state … the whole 53,819 square miles of it.
But this work won’t be real or grounded without your voice and input, so on Thurs., May 4, we’ll be hosting an organizing call to talk about what News Voices: North Carolina is, what we’d like to do and how you can help shape this work.
