Call Your Rep: Stop B.S. Fake Net Neutrality
Republicans in the House recently dropped not one, not two, but three totally B.S. fake Net Neutrality bills.
We’ve seen these industry-written compromises before, and these bills are lies all around. They create massive loopholes in the law that would allow for harmful discriminatory practices and would prevent the Federal Communications Commission from doing its job — which is to protect people like you.
Though they’re disguised as Net Neutrality legislation, the bills proposed by GOP Reps. Latta, McMorris Rodgers and Walden protect phone and cable companies from any real oversight while paying lip service to an issue members of Congress know their constituents are passionate about.
But here’s the thing: The Comcasts and Verizons of the world don’t need protecting. These companies are after profit at any cost — and nothing more.
The internet is an essential communications tool for all of us. Net Neutrality is what keeps the internet free and open for social movements to grow, marginalized communities to tell their own stories and small businesses to succeed.
We need to stop these bills in their tracks and expose them for what they are: a toxic political ploy.
Call your member of Congress today and tell them to support real Net Neutrality and to stay away from these bad bills.
