    Help Stop the T-Mobile/Sprint Merger

The saga of the merger that just won’t go away continues.

Today, the Department of Justice approved T-Mobile’s bid to merge with Sprint ... but only if the two carriers sell off a number of assets to DISH Network, including prepaid brands like Boost Mobile, and a small number of spectrum licenses and retail stores.

If the deal goes through, even with these conditions it would leave the United States with only three viable nationwide wireless-service providers. This would crush competition, raise prices and eliminate as many as 30,000 jobs.

To make matters worse, it would disproportionately harm low-income people and communities of color, who rely on competition between T-Mobile and Sprint to keep access affordable.1

This might seem like a victory for Team Consolidation but the fight isn’t over yet.

Even though the DoJ has approved this awful deal — and the FCC has indicated it’s likely to as well — attorneys general in eight states and the District of Columbia have launched a lawsuit that could block the T-Mobile/Sprint merger once and for all.

We’re hopeful that the ultimate outcome will be in our favor, and we’re definitely not giving up this fight just because Trump’s political appointee at the DoJ and the unscrupulous FCC chairman have decided to ignore the public interest.

Your gift of $10 — or whatever you can give — could make all the difference in the fight to stop this merger.

Our work to safeguard what little competition remains in the mobile and broadband markets takes resources. We refuse to take money from business, government or political parties — our independence is too important. Instead, we rely on donations from charitable foundations and individuals like you to keep us going.
