The defeat of SOPA and PIPA. AT&T's FaceTime face-plant. The Declaration of Internet Freedom. 2012 was a huge year for Internet freedom.

But more threats lie just around the corner. In 2013, a federal court will decide the future of Net Neutrality, the SOPA/PIPA forces will be back with new Web-censorship bills and we'll have to deal with cybersecurity proposals that violate our privacy and harm the Internet.
