Say "Thanks" to FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn

FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn will soon end her tenure at the agency, bringing a close to nine incredible years of fearless advocacy. We couldn't have asked for a better partner in protecting your rights to connect and communicate.

Mignon Clyburn's tenure has been marked by her unwavering commitment to the voices that too often go unheard: children, low-income families, incarcerated people, immigrants and communities of color.

Just a few of her achievements:

    • Appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009, becoming the first Black woman to serve on the FCC
    • Designated interim chair in 2013, becoming the first woman to lead the agency
    • Led push to limit the exorbitant costs of prison-phone calls, citing "2.7 million children in this country with at least one incarcerated parent." Won a historic vote at the FCC in 2015.
    • Voted alongside fellow Democratic Commissioners Tom Wheeler and Jessica Rosenworcel in 2015 to adopt the historic Net Neutrality rules
    • Led the 2016 effort to subsidize broadband access via the Lifeline program to help close the digital divide and support millions of people struggling to get by
    • Delivered an impassioned dissent against the 2017 vote repealing the Net Neutrality protections

Share your thanks for Commissioner Clyburn's leadership. We'll deliver the message.
