To Disney, General Mills, HBO, Kellogg, Kraft, Nestlé and Procter & Gamble:

Hate, disinformation and calls to violence are rampant on Twitter. Advertisements are Twitter’s primary source of revenue, and that’s why we are calling on Twitter’s top advertisers to pull their ads until the company:

  • Commits to keeping accounts, including those of public figures and politicians, that were removed for violations of Twitter Rules off the platform
  • Continues to uphold the civic integrity policy in particular, along with the hateful conduct policy
  • Ensures algorithmic accountability, preserves people’s privacy, and commits to depolarizing the algorithm
  • Continues Twitter’s commitment to transparency and researcher access

Tell Twitter Advertisers to Stop Supporting Hate & Disinformation

    Hold Twitter Advertisers Accountable

Multi-billionaire Elon Musk wants to buy Twitter for $44 billion, nearly $54.20 per share.

Musk doesn’t believe that any posts — however factually inaccurate, violent or inflammatory — should be banned from Twitter. A Twitter with Musk at the helm will not be a paradise of free speech — it will be a hellscape of hate speech, disinformation, violence and white supremacy.

We need Twitter to improve its policies to keep all its users — and our democracy — safe from hate and disinformation. We’ve asked Twitter executives nicely to take the necessary steps, and now we’re ready to up the ante by hitting Twitter where it hurts: its bottom line.

We’ve teamed up with dozens of partner organizations to send a letter to Disney, General Mills, HBO, Kellogg, Kraft, Nestlé and Procter & Gamble demanding that they pull all advertising from Twitter until the platform commits to basic standards of content moderation to keep users safe and limit the spread of hate speech and disinformation.

Sign the petition to tell these major companies that they must pull their advertising dollars from Twitter NOW until there are rules in place to keep everyone on the platform safe.
