Tell the Senate to Confirm Biden’s FCC Nominee and Get the Agency Up and Running
After a very long wait, the White House has named public-interest champion Gigi Sohn to fill the fifth and final commissioner’s spot at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
For nearly a year the FCC has been deadlocked and unable to start many of the bold rulemakings it needs to pursue. After the damage of the Trump era, we need the agency fully staffed and ready to pass public-interest policies as soon as possible.
There’s so much we need the FCC to do. The agency must ensure that the billions Congress has invested in broadband actually reach those who need it most. It should restore its authority to regulate broadband and adopt robust Net Neutrality rules. It's also critical that the FCC reckon with media regulators’ history on race and ensure our communications infrastructure can withstand the climate emergency.
But none of this vital work can happen until the Senate confirms Biden’s nominee. Urge the Senate to confirm Gigi Sohn without delay.
