Tell the New Jersey Legislature to Strengthen New Jersey’s Media and Pass the Civic Info Bill
New Jersey’s residents have spoken: They want accurate, relevant and trustworthy news and information in their communities.
That’s why Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg and Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald have reintroduced the Civic Info Bill (S2317/A3628). The bill would invest millions of dollars in innovative ideas designed to strengthen local journalism, foster community and civic engagement, and amplify the voices of people of color and other marginalized communities.
This bill couldn’t come at a more urgent time. Years of out-of-control media consolidation have left many communities throughout the state with no local news coverage. That’s why media-makers, organizers, tech innovators and higher-education institutions are partnering to support the legislation and working to transform how our communities stay informed.
New Jersey lawmakers need to listen to the thousands of Garden State residents who have signed petitions, made calls and lobbied at the statehouse in support of the Civic Info Bill and the consortium it would establish.
Urge New Jersey legislators to pass the Civic Info Bill (S2317/A3628).
