In Colorado we’ve seen widespread newsroom closures, journalist layoffs and vulture-capitalist takeovers of local media. And now, at the height of a global pandemic and uprisings asserting the dignity of Black life, Coloradans need trustworthy local news more than ever.
That’s why Free Press has launched News Voices: Colorado, a project that will work alongside communities to transform local news across the state. Our goal is to partner with local residents, newsrooms and media-makers to create local news that is sustainable, equitable and reflective of local communities.
But for this effort to be successful, we need Coloradans like you to join us. Sign up to learn more about News Voices: Colorado and how you can get involved.
News Voices: Colorado is the latest place-based project to join Free Press’ News Voices initiative1 — which organizes alongside communities around the country to transform local news for the better.
